Carrier Ethernet, is definitely not your father’s Ethernet!

By September 14, 2016 Broadband

How does Frontier Networks differentiate ourselves against the dominant carriers namely the ILEC telephone companies and cable companies?

Well, if you can put aside the obvious lack of simple bill, non-intimate support and non predatory pricing practices aside …. we have created a network that simply put, does not have any operating ‘bias’. We set out a claim some time ago that Frontier is the 100 percent coverage company. This means, no matter what site, or speed or location you have, Frontier can define a solution to service this.

The foundation of this strategy was to build a Carrier Ethernet network that provides for ‘neutral’ connectivity across multiple competing providers.

What is it ….

To a Frontier customer, our Carrier Ethernet appears as a ubiquitous and consistent service, reaching locations serviced by high speed metro Ethernet fiber, DSL, cable, wireless and even traditional T1 lines. It brings the cost model of Ethernet, as well as ubiquity and scalability, to the wide area network.

Our simple redundant design makes us ideal for site-to-site access, data center & server consolidation, disaster recovery, Internet access, converged networking, virtualization and cloud computing, image intensive applications, video, VoIP, etc. The service is delivered as point-to-point or multi-point over dedicated connections from 1mbps to 10Gbps.

Today, Frontier Networks is emerging as Canada’s true first and most connected Carrier Ethernet Exchange backbone provider in Canada with our own US (Diverse) backbone drops. With this, we are delivering carrier-neutral and collocation-neutral Carrier Ethernet Exchange interconnect services to global, regional and local telecom/internet service providers. In addition to having the largest number of active Carrier Ethernet Exchanges and connected networks, Frontier also provides:

  • 16 markets in North America, Europe and Asia
  • 45 participants ready for immediate transaction opportunities, with a vast array of Ethernet network service providers colocated onsite
  • Port availability of 99.999 percent per month (higher if diverse)
  • Transparent service translation

How we manage that …
Easy … next time your current provider tells you that they cannot provide services to your ‘x’ number of locations, think of Frontier Networks.

It is a pretty common occurrence. If you have 3, 5, 10, 100 locations close to 20 percent will present some level of difficulty when providing connectivity. Frontier can help with a 100 percent coverage plan.
